PROJECT: In
Panevezys Special Education School live children with slight mental disability.
During summertime about 20 orphan children from this school stay in the
school while the others spend summer with their parents. For the teachers
and educators appears a problem how to make their time more fruitful and
interesting. The idea of the project is to create more fruitful, meaningful
and interesting leisure time. The project aims to organise intense and
constant relations among children and volunteers for the sake of warm and
friendly communication what would improve the quality of life of the children.
This project goes on successfully already for four years.
In the
1st camp there will also be children from other orphanages in the region,
thus volunteers will work with ~50 children. In the 2nd camp there will
children only from the school (~20).
WORK:
Living together with the children during the period of workcamp. Organizing
their time for them and together with them. Initiating various games and
activities and participating in them together.
LOCATION: In
Panevezys – the fifth biggest town in Lithuania, 140km north from Vilnius.
LANGUAGE: workcamp
language – English; local language – Lithuanian. Some knowledge of Russian
would be helpful. Children speak Lithuanian, some – English, Russian. Teachers,
who would help, speak Lithuanian and Russian.
ACCOM.: In
the dormitory which belongs to the Special Education School. Double rooms.
Children live in the same dormitory.
FOOD:
In the canteen, which belongs to the School.
FREE TIME:
There will be possibilities to spend free time together with the children
as well as separately. Excursions to famous Lithuanian places, goings out
to the river in the town and any other suggested activities will be possible.
NOTICES: desire
to communicate with children is necessary. Any games or other activities
for and with children are welcome!
PROJECT: in
this workcamp teenagers from shelter home of special education will have
summer camp in a campsite in the forest near the lake. The aim of the workcamp
is to create new experiences and bring difference to teenagers’ life. This
could be possible by bringing international volunteers together with them.
We believe that sincere communication and nature in countryside will build
atmosphere of mutual understanding and cooperation.
WORK:
organising activities for and with teenagers, arranging trips to the forest,
on the lake, fishing, playing games and etc. Campsite brings up nice ideas
for activities while being there.
LOCATION: 70km
from Vilnius – the capital.
LANGUAGE: English.
Local – Lithuanian. Knowledge of Russian would be very useful.
ACCOM.: in
the cottages in the camping site. Sleeping bags are needed.
FOOD: Volunteers
will prepare food for themselves, together with teenagers – is possible.
FREE TIME:
free time will be organised according to the volunteers’ wishes. The surroundings
and beautiful nature could offer many possibilities.
NOTICES: a
high level of fitness is not required, but strong motivation, intermediate
level maturity and openmindness would be an advantage.

PROJECT: This
camp will take place in National Park of Lithuania, where are 9 lakes connected.
Teenagers from Ciobiskis shelter home of special education will be in this
workcamp. The main idea of this workcamp is to organise special and new
experience for teenagers, for that international volunteers are invited
for the camp. It is important to keep these teenagers active in meaningful
and creative way, thus there will be travelling camp. Volunteers and teenagers
will travel by boats and feet, will sleep in tents and prepare food for
them. Survival trip will be organised.
WORK:
travelling and living together with teenagers and educators of the shelter
home. Organising time for teenagers, preparing activities for the survival
trip and etc.
LOCATION: in
the region of Ignalina - 120 km from Vilnius – the capital.
LANGUAGE: English.
Local – Lithuanian. Knowledge of Russian would be very useful.

PROJECT: in
Ciobiskis shelter home of special education stay youngsters from 14 till
17 who did some offences against the law. The aim of a voluntary workcamp
is to support pupils with asocial background, acquaint them with the different
way of life, strange cultures and points of view via a vivid interaction
with volunteers. Through the communication of these temporary isolated
youngsters and people from the “healthy”/ “real” world, we hope to build
a bridge of peace and understanding, benevolence and justice.
WORK:
in the area of the shelter home volunteers will organise social activities
(games, workshops, etc.), especially sport activities, they could join
teenagers in their handicraft’s making. Some renovation works in the house
together with the youngsters who are allowed to leave the penitentiary.
LOCATION: approximately
60km from Vilnius – the capital.
ACCOMM: Volunteers
will live in the house. Sleeping bag is obligatory!
FOOD: Volunteers
will prepare food for themselves, together with teenagers.
FREE TIME:
possible to get acquainted with the handicrafts made by the teenagers,
also to join them in creating new materials. Getting to know the surroundings.
Proposals from the volunteers are always welcome!

of experience in this project proved that the work with these children
is most rewarding!
PROJECT: the
workcamp is organised in cooperation with organisation working with teenagers
in rural area. The main aim of the workcamp is fruitful and creative free
time for them. Warm and friendly communication will contribute to the well-being
of the teenagers. This workcamp will also stimulate young people to learn
foreign languages. There will be 24 teenagers.
WORK:
organising active and interesting activities for teenagers and together
with them.
LOCATION: Akmene
– town 280km to the north from Vilnius – the capital.
LANGUAGE: English.

to visit nice places in north-west Lithuania, seaside and Kursiu sand spit.

PROJECT: the purpose of the project is to involve youth into ecological activities. Volunteers will help in the Kur?iu Spit National Park, simultaneously they will have a possibility to get to know the Kursiu Spit's cultural and natural heritage and the problems of their conservation and refreshment. One of the important camp's objectives is to promote and encourage youth participation in solving ecological problems.
WORK: cleaning
the Park territory from industrial and house-holding wastes, cleaning recreational
zones in the Park, non-beach part of seashore. Meeting local youth and
discussing with them possibilities for ecological problems solving and
sharing experience of different countries.
LOCATION: the
camp will be located in sand-spit of Kursiu Nerija Peninsula of roughly
50 km in length. It is about 300 km west from Vilnius.
LANGUAGE: English.
Local – Lithuanian.
ACCOM.: volunteers
will live in cottages; washroom, toilet, kitchen will be provided.
FOOD:
volunteers will prepare food themselves.
FREE TIME:
all the ideas concerning free time are welcome and will be supported. The
nature itself makes a lot of hints for creating fruitful and interesting
leisure.

and awareness of ecological problems are preferable.
Sand, sun,
sea and wind made their best and created here the most incredible place
for you! God knows, the most favourite novels by German writer Thomas Mann
were born here, in his own house in Kursiu Nerija…
PROJECT: The
foundation of social and psychological support got the house, which they
want to arrange it suitable for youth trainings. The training seminars
are held in this house already now, although it is not arranged in a proper
way for all the groups. People from the foundation think that only youth
could arrange this house properly because its purpose is for youth use.
Another objective for the workcamp – communication with the local small
town of Andrioni?kis community, get to know countryside culture. This Training
house is in this small town and this influences the coming groups. It’s
expected to biuld some constructions in the town (arranging the beach by
the river, market place, etc.).
WORK: Arranging
the house: painting the walls, ceiling, floor, windows; hanging wallpaper;
building walls, renovating the stairs, etc. also work outside the house,
different outdoor works.
LOCATION: the
camp will be located in Andrioni?kis – a town about 130 km from Vilnius.
This town have only 280 inhabitants, but has beautiful nature and surroundings
described in many legends.
LANGUAGE: English.
Local – Lithuanian. Knowledge of Russian would be very helpful!

FREE TIME:
all ideas from participants concerning free time will be supported! Going
to the city, visiting all (or almost J) places of interest in and around
Vilnius.There will be possibilities to visit a lot of places of interest
in the neighbourhood (Museum of Horses, places glorified by many Lithuanian
writers), get acquainted with the nature on foot or by canoes or raft by
the river Sventoji. There are also possibilities for outdoor sports.

International
children and youth camps are organised in a beautiful small village Kacergine
– 15 km away from Kaunas. About 300 pupils usually spend their holidays
in each camp.
Sport and art
activities include: kick box, karate, basketball, football, Forest and
Watersprite festivals, discos, Miss, Mrs. Elections. A lot of possibilities
to communicate with local youth.
WORK:
The volunteers
will work with a group of children (7 - 15 years old) who want to improve
their English and make their communication skills better. Volunteers are
expected to bring teaching materials for their workshops, ideas of teaching
English (games, songs, workshops, etc.). Smile is a must. Young teachers
are especially welcome.
ACCOMMODATION:
In the children
camp’s administrative building. Toilets and washing facilities are provided.
Cooking is done by the staff.
LEISURE TIME:
Volunteers
will have possibilities to visit museums, historical places in Kaunas,
ethnographic museum in Rumsiskes. Excursions to Vilnius are possible.
LOCATION:
The project
will take place in a beautiful suburb of Kaunas (Kacergine is only 15 km
from Kaunas – the second largest Lithuanian city).
TERMINAL:
Bus and train
stations in Kaunas.

The project will take place in PAZAISLIS monastery dating back to the 17 century. It is one of the most beautiful architectural monuments in the country and it is famous for its frescos and stucco mouldings. This fascinating piece of baroque architecture dates back to 1664 (architect – L. Fred – Italian).
WORK:
Pazaislis monastery
and the nuns need your help. Volunteers will clean the monastery area
and carry out
manual work including gardening and etc.
ACCOMODATION/FOOD:
Accommodation
is in the monastery, two – four person per room. All facilities available,
but sometimes there are problems with hot water. Cooking is done by volunteers
themselves.
LANGUAGE: English
LOCATION:
The camp is
located in the second largest city of Lithuania – Kaunas. The monastery
is situated in a huge park facing the “Kaunas sea”, which was artificially
made in 1959 by building Kaunas Hydroelectric Power Station on the river
Nemunas. It is a very popular summer city-break site for the people of
Kaunas. There is a yacht club near the camp.

LEISURE TIME:
We can offer
a couple of meetings with nuns and volunteers from other camps. Depending
on volunteers initiative – there is a lot of possibilities to travel, to
see other cities, the Baltic Sea.

WORK:
The camp is interesting for those young people who like to live and
to work in the nature. For this international project we co-operate
with the administration of the nature reserve "RUTA". During summer seasons
children sport school and children centre are organised.
Volunteers
will help to do simple different forestry work, pruning trees, repairing
paths and etc.
ACCOMMODATION/FOOD:
Accommodation
in cottages near the beautiful lake ZEBRUSU. All facilities available.

Cooking is
done by the staff of "RUTA". Cleaning is done by volunteers themselves.

WORK:
The Youth Centre
EGAS invites young people for various activities and entertainment during
the summer season. The idea includes organising music festivals and other
performances in the open air. It is very popular summer country-break site
for the local people. The volunteers will work on a number of tasks during
the project: making new footpaths, creating playgrounds for sport activities,
putting in fences, bowers, tables and seats. Some volunteers can be asked
to assist leaders in the children and teenagers camps.
ACCOMMODATION/FOOD:
Cottages close
by the lake. Living conditions are very simply. It is more or less wild
life. Toilets are outside. Showers are provided.
Cooking is
done by the staff of the Youth Centre.
A good opportunity
to communicate with local people, to meet people from different countries.

WORK:
Volunteers
will be divided into 2 groups. One group will supervise the programme in
teenagers camp (age: 14 – 18) another in children camp (age : 10 – 14).
The volunteers task is to assist the camp leaders in organising activities
in the summer camp including sports, games, songs, arts, trips, discos
and etc. A lot of fun! Possibilities to communicate with the local
youth!

LOCATION:
This peculiar
town of Zemaitija region is situated between mysterious Lake Birzulis and
Lake Lukstas on both sides the small and winding Varnele river. The outward
calm of the small town is deceitful. Every corner here reminds the majestic
and long history of Varniai (life).

located near the beautiful lake LUKSTAS, that is 3 km away from VARNIAI.

You are welcome
to the land which boasts wonderful nature adorned with numerous hills.
So…it is really feast for one’s eyes. The 47 lakes are an integral part
of the landscape of Telsiai region. You will spend two or three weeks near
the largest of them – Lukstas (1,016 ha). About 30 pupils from different
parts of this region wish to live and to have a good time with YOU!
We want
to creat a space for youngsters from different countries and different
cultures to collaborate together in organising leisure activities for themselves.

are directed to the intercultural learning aspect.
