Since April
2001 a team of SCI-volunteers supports the development of a youth group
in Vushtrri/Vicitrn, Kosov@. Vushtrri/Vicitrn is one of the most damaged
communities during the Nato-bombing 1999. Today, the KIDS-youth-group consists
of eight young men and four young women between 15 and 19 years old. The
KIDS-youth-group is organising activities like an aids-and drug-information
campaign, English courses and first-aid-education for teenagers in Vushtrri/Vucitrn
area.
Together with
a team of SCI- long term volunteers, they are currently developing a summer
program for kids and teens for their next long summer holidays in July
and August.
W: leading
workshops for children and teenagers and supporting the organisation of
the entire program
S: You have
the possibility to life very close with the local population and to learn
a lot about the kosov@rian culture
A: very simple,
in one room in a house, few sanitary installations
Q: Sensitivity
for the after-war situation, political awareness and an open mind for the
situation in the FRY. Specific knowledge for different workshops. You will
be expected to self-reliantly lead your workshops as well as to organise
parts of the entire program in the team.
X: Minimum
age: 21. Be aware of hard work - but you will be together with a very motivated
KIDS-Group and a team of SCI-long term volunteers - so don` t be afraid
to explore a quite unknown culture...!
Volunteer are
expected to contribute an extra fee of 100 Euro for food and accommodation.
Please make
sure to book your flight in time as the flights are often booked our during
summer holidays.
