Location: Kaz?r village is around 130 kms far from the capital, Budapest. Kaz?r is found in the North-Eastern part of Hungary, a few kms far from the city of Salg?tarj?n.
Work: The local government of Kaz?r has started to plan and carry out a project to develop and restore the original centre of the village for a few years. So far many buildings have been restored and volunteers will join this great work and renovate some of these traditional houses which are a characteristic feature of the region. These buildings will function as house of crafts, exchibition hall, youth centre, children’s centre, etc. A school of crafts will also be supported where many different craft trades can be learned and excercised. This idea is quite exceptional in Hungary: a uniqe place where some 40 trades can be studied at the same time. Volunteers will also put up traditional fence surrounding the buildings mentioned above.
Accomodation: in stone-built house (in one of the renovated traditional houses or in the elderly people’s home which is vacant during the summer)
Leisure time: The village of 2000 inhabitants has a folk dance group formed by young people who have had several performances in Hungary and in various countries of Europe. They are looking forward to hosting and spending a great time with the volunteers. The dance group will teach the volunteers traditional Hungarian folk dances and promotes a common performance with the volunteers in front of the community of the village. Excursions are also organised to discover the hilly region. Volunteers can also excercise in some of the handcrafts.
Bring your sleeping bag, working clothes, a hat or a scarf, boots, swimming kit, medicine, cream or any other weapons against mosquitoes, sun cream and sunglasses. Bring along your ideas, brochures, descriptions about your country, receipts, games, musical intsruments and songs since we are going to play a lot and have a great time!
Sarospatak – Katona tanya VP02 Environment/Architecture

Location: Katona
tanya is a bio-farm run by a Hungarian family. The farm is close to Sarospatak,
a small historical town in the North-Eastern part of Hungary.
The protection
of environment is very important on the farm, therefore only solar and
wind energy is being used. The bio-farm at the same time gives place to
a small African village where traditional East-African mud cottages
are initiated to be built in order to create an exhibition in the future.
Accomodation:
will be shared and simple in a house.
Work: volunteers
will take part in several farmworks such as weeding, cultivating fruits,
vegetables, feeding animals, etc. Also they will be helping in the construction
of mud houses led by the owner who is a
professor of
East-African etnography.
Free time:
discovering the surrounding area, Zemplen mountains, the town of Sarospatak,
etc. Volunteers will have the possibility to get to know African culture
and etnography.
Remarks: bring
your sleeping bag, working clothes, boots, medicine, protection cream for
mosquitoes, musical insruments, everything that might help you introducing
your country and culture to the other volunteers, your receipt as vols
will cook for themselves.

RESTORATION

Location: S?LY is a village of 300 inhabitants in FEJ?R county situated between the towns of SZ?KESFEH?RV?R and VESZPR?M. S?ly is approximately 130 kms far from the capital, BUDAPEST.
Accommodation: Next to S?ly, another village, VILONYA is situated. This village offers lodgement in a stone-built house for the volunteers.
Work: Volunteers will contribute to the preservation of the stability of a little church which was built in the 11th-12th century. Volunteers will remove the soil around the church and develop a system to carry away the water which accumulates there after raining and endangers the church. The church is a monument, part of the Hungarian and regional heritage. Volunteers will also have to develop the area of their place of accommodation that is usually used as a lodgement for workcamps of scouts and local children.
Leisure time: The community has an open-air amphitheatre that can be an optional scene for the volunteers' performance or games. Discovering the region and historical monuments, as well as swimming in the Lake Balaton (Hungary's largest lake) are also on the schedule. Volunteers will have the possibility to practice some handcrafts and archery.
Bring your sleeping bag, working clothes, a hat or a scarf, boots, swimming kit, medicine, cream or other weapons against mosquitoes, sun cream and sunglasses. Be prepared for the calm August nights. Bring along your ideas, brochures, descriptions about your country, receipts, games, musical instruments and songs since we are going to play a lot and have a great time!

Children Town Tiszadob

Tiszadob is
a small village next to river Tisza , in the Eastern part of Hungary. In
the last century a children town was funded in the nearby palace. Most
of its inhabitants come from socially disadvantaged background, 80% comes
from gypsy communities. This part of Hungary is one of the most deprived
areas of the country, and the children town do not have much possibilities
to improve their living standards. The young inhabitants are very enthusiastic
to meet foreign volunteers since they have never had the chance to travel
far from these dwellings. A: In a separate building on the site of the
children town. L: English Q: Creativity, enthusiasm and openness towards
the young inhabitants. W: In the mornings: reconstruction in the park and
garden of the palace. In the afternoons: common activities with a group
of 20-25 young inhabitants.

Mezokovacshaza

Mezokovacshaza
is a small town in Eastern Hungary in a rather deprived area. A two week
long summer camp will be organised for teenagers (aged 12-17) from the
town. The aim is to organise activities that stimulate the teenagers to
use German and English as well as various adventure activities (sports,
fun, games, making music, theatre, pottery and so on). Work: language teaching
in the morning, different activities in the afternoon. Good knowledge of
English and/or German. Experience with children is an advantage. Enthusiasm
and creativity needed!

Adventure Camp

Szeged is a
major city in South-Eastern Hungary, next to the Yugoslavian and Romanian
border. Volunteers will help the local Children House (leisure centre)
to run different camps for children aged 7-14 during this two weeks. In
both week volunteers will help in 4 different camps (animal park and eco-camps
and two in the Children House). Creativity and imagination are necessary,
as well as experience with children and good English. The volunteers are
asked to take game and free time activity ideas to the camp. A: Alltogether
in Szeged during the week too.

Ex-Dombiratos
Camp in Szeged

Szeged is a
major city in South-Eastern Hungary, next to the Yugoslavian and Romanian
border. Volunteers will run a language training camp for youngsters (age:
14-18 years). Participants should hold German (and some English) lessons
and organise various outdoor and and leisure-time activities to them. It
includes visiting well-known places around Szeged, as well. Accommodation:
in tents at the organiser's place, if the weather is not fine in her detached-house
(fairly big and comfortable). Good language skill required. Bring fresh
ideas for free time and good communication methods.

Kisnyalkamajor
- Forest School

The small village
Nyalka is near Gyor and Pannonhalma. The camp will be in Kisnyalkamajor,
which is a farm near the village. The old farm building is being renovated
and planned to host a forest school where children can learn about their
natural environment, about plants and animals. The volunteers will work
on the building and its surroundings to make it suitable for the school,
maybe a barn or stable for livestock. A: Likely, the building will have
been able to host the volunteers by that time.

Biofarm in
Balinka

The very small
village Balinka is near Mor and Szekesfehervar. The camp will be held on
a farm which was built in 1700. There is not too much left from the original
buildings, but an enthusiastic couple decided to rebuild the farm and follow
a substainable lifestyle. They wish to live in an enviromentally friendly
way, as they only take from the nature as much as they give to it. They'd
like to be an example that enviromentally friendly life is possible and
even more happier than life in our rushing world. Volunteers will help
in building, farming and other works around the house. A: will be very
basic, tents, open fire cooking.

Pecs

P?cs is major
city in Southern Hungary. A local foundation decided to set up a youth
centre for mentally disabled youngsters in a traditional village house
next to P?cs. The aim is to establish a place to promote reintegration
of the disableds into the society. Actually, it is in a very bad state
of repair, and volunteers are needed for reconstruction work. They will
assist some skilled workers at the recounstruction. Physically hard work.

Pazmandfalu

The small village
Pazmandfalu is near Gyor. The camp will be organised by a foundation which
is really new. They have an old village house which has to be renovated
and a new shelter made of straw will be built in a traditional way. Volunteers
will help in the construction under the hand of a skilled and experienced
builder. Apart from this, the local Clean-Up-the-Village Day will meet
our camp, so the volunteers can take part in some village-cleaning actions.

Festival in
Kapolcs

Each year Kapolcs
(and 4 other villages around) is the host village for the Valley of Arts
in Hungary. This Festival is ment to gather artists and amatures of any
kind of art (music, theatre, folk art, etc.). As more foreign people visit
the Festival each year, there is a growing need of English and German speaking
volunteers, who help the work of the information centres located in each
village. Volunteers must speak at least English and German, and Hungarian
is also an advantage. Minimum age of vols is 22. A: in tents.
