Work: Volunteers
interested in positively impacting the environment will join in this effort
to clean up the river Dubravenka and a recreation area located near the
riverbank. Mogilev has a high concentration of chemical industry and needs
international assistance in clean-up, environment protection and water
conservation. Work began in 1990 but was halted due to financial difficulties
within the local city structure. This will be the camp’s 7th year. Silt
and rubbish will be removed from the riverbed and adjoining territory.
The work will be manual, but the rubbish will be hauled away by motor vehicle.
Special skills are not required. Volunteers will work approximately 5 hours
a day.

THEATRE
Work: Volunteers
interested in theatre will join in this effort a group of Belarussian
students to create a performance using different kinds of art. During the
last week of the workcamp the performance will be presented in different
educational establishments and in the streets of the city.
Location: Grodno,

the country. It has many ancient and beautiful sites.

SOCIAL/DISABLED
CHILDREN
Work: The camp
is arranged by the League of Youth Voluntary Service and The staff of students
group in cooperation with the medical-social rehabilitative center for
disabled children. This workcamp will take place in the rehabilitative
center built in Mogilev during 1994. Today this center cares for about
100 children under the age of 16. Approximately 40 of them have mobility
problems. We expect 25 disabled children to take part in the camp. Volunteers
will participate in the rehabilitation of disabled children including teaching
them the necessary skills which can help in their everyday life. Volunteers
will organize leisure time for children, carry out sports and therapeutic
physical exercises, games and talks. You will also be needed to help with
feeding and lifting children. Volunteers will work 8 hours a day.

Souvenirs from your home country to give to the children; games and songs,
cultural things are highly appreciated. It will be useful if you bring
along information on system of rehabilitation, and methods of work with
disabled children in your country in order to make use of the information
in the center.

Work: The camp
is devoted to the historical events of the Patriotic War of 1812 (the war
between the Russian Empire and the Napoleon Empire). Volunteers will do
archeological work, renovation of historical monuments and cleaning of
the surroundings.
Location: Studenka
is a village in Borisov region.
Accomm.: Volunteers
will live in tents and they will cook themselves. Volunteers will be provided
with summer shower (there will be no hot water, the water will be heated
by the sun) and traditional Russian banya. Conditions of living are very
basic.
Free time:
Sport activities and swimming, it takes something about 20 minutes by foot
to the river.
Please bring:
Working clothes and shoes, also musical instruments and your sense of humor,
spray against mosquitoes.

Work: In cooperation
with professionals volunteers will do archeological work on the territory
of biritual cemetery of Velbar culture. This cemetery was left by Gots.
This place is an evidence of migration from the South Sweden (island Gotland)
to the boarder of Rome Empire, which was located close to the Black sea.
The place of work is located 20 km away from Brest near the river Mukhovets.
Accomm.: Volunteers
will live in tents.
Free time:
Volunteers can do sports and organize barbecues. Excursions to Brest may
also be arranged.

Work: The project
is organized in cooperation with the Institute of History of the Republic
of Belarus. Together with professionals volunteers will investigate remains
of feudal estate (XI-XVI century). Last year there were found remains of
wooden building, weapons, burials and coins. Estate is situated in Polatsk
region on the bank of river Dvina.
Location: 12
km away from Polatsk. Polatsk is famous for its history it is one of the
oldest towns in Belarus.
Accomm.: Volunteers
will live in tents. Sauna will be provided 2 times a week. Volunteer will
cook themselves. Conditions of living are really basic.
Free time:
Volunteers can do sports and to organize barbeques. Excursions to Poltsk
will be arranged.

Work: In cooperation
with the Institute of History volunteers together with professionals will
help to investigate the remains of an ancient town Sniadin (XIV-XVI century)
and cemetery XVI-XVII cetury.
Location: The
workcamp will take place in village Sniadin, Gomel region on the bank of
the river Pripiat.
Accomm.: Volunteers
will live in the building of school. Conditions of livin are really basic.
Free time:
Volunteers can do sports and to organize barbeques. Excursions to Minsk,
Gomel and other may also be arranged. You will also have a possibility
to visit other archeological places.

Work: Volunteers
will organize discussion and work groups to assist difficult teenagers
in preparing for life by broadening their outlook in politics, economics
and law, as well as encouraging them in the decision-making process. The
program consists of visits to vocational technical schools, technical secondary
schools and other institutions in Mogilev.
Study part:
A special study program is already composed by the methodical-study cenre.

Work: Volunteers
will participate in a camp which will acquaint young people from different
countries with the national cultural heritage of Belarus. This camp will
expose the children of the Mogilev Art School to the art of different countries.
By working together with artists from around the world, the children will
not only share & expand their own knowledge, but they will be helping
disabled children and orphans. At the end of the camp, the young artists’
work will be given to meet the needs of disabled children. Volunteers will
also be able to experience working in the traditional and manual Belarussian
crafts personally. Different types of projects will be offered depending
on the skills of the volunteers.

settlement of the Iron Age in the region of Vikings conquest.

is Braslav (Vitebsk region).

The project
will take place in the village Priluky that is six km from Minsk. This
district is known as a picturesque and hilly place with the forest and
river not far from it. The place has a long and interesting history: in
1635 the orthodox convent was founded there and later in the boundary of
18 - 19 century the estate 'Priluky' appeared. Now it is an architectural
monument where the scientific research institute of plants protection is
located. They try to keep the estate and the park in a good condition and
there is also a museum there. The park has the territory of 12.5 acres
.

Garden was founded in 1932 and has a collection of more than 10.000
species of plants. Two years ago ' New Group' started co-operation with
this institution and it was very fruitful. This year the specialists of
the Garden plan to create a Herb-Spiral: a spiral with different kinds
of ground and with different species of plants that are changing in accordance
with the ground.The Herb-Spiral is an integral part of permacuture.

The world is
facing AIDS crisis and this crisis is serious and international. The aim
of the project is to examine the problem and try to create an education
program because education is also vital in the fight against
AIDS. During the first week the volunteers will visits organizations
governmental as well as non-governmental that are connected with AIDS and
AIDS centers, they will get the information about the situation in Belarus
and also visit drug-center. During the second week the volunteers
will perform lessons at schools about AIDS and its prevention.

"Ecohome",

'Ecohome' is
a belarussian non-governmental ecological organisation promoting ideas
of permaculture - special design system that uses principles of natural
ecosystems for creating artificial ecosystems for human beings - and ecological
education. For these purposes these young enthusiasts are creating an educational
ecological center with a demonsttration permoculture plot of land where
they plan to organize different ecological activities.The center is placed
in a house with adjoining peace of land on a very isolated and picturesque
place. They need help with reparation of the houses and adjoined buildings
and creation permacultural demonstration piece of land.

furniture etc.
S: Learning
the basic ideas of permaculture and work on creating a permaculture plot.
Acquaintance with unique ecosystem of Blue Lakes, with life of belarusian
