,, Olympos’’
Educational Center is situated in one of the beautiful places of Yerevan
– in Old Nork, which is in 15 minutes drive from the city center. The cable
car is working not far from the Center, so while travelling to the city
center, you can enjoy its view from the bird’s flight height.
,,Olympos’’
was built in the 1950th and was one of the best schools in Armenia. More
than 400 pupils study and spend their leisure time on the territory of
the center, which includes children playgrounds, park and fruit gardens,
small lakes and zoo, covered swimming pool.
Work:
Volunteers
will carry out an ecological work on equipping the territory of the center:
cleaning the fruit gardens, painting the benches and arbors, cleaning the
small lake. Volunteers will also do some other maintaining works on the
territory.
Accommodation:
Volunteers
will stay in the building of the Center’s Hostel, which is also on the
territory of the school. They will be provided with beds.
Excursions:
Some trips
and hikes to the most beautiful places of Armenia, such as Garni Pagan
temple, Geghard cloister, Sevan Lake, Echmiadzin Cathedral, museums of
Yerevan, are foreseen in the program of the camp.
HUJ 1.2 YEREVAN 01/08 – 21/08 ENVI/RENO English 20 volunteers

SPITAK

Location:
Boarding School in Italian Village
The camp is
situated at the Boarding school in the Italian Village in Spitak city,
which was totally destroyed by devastating earthquake in 1988. Spitak now
is being currently renovated. The Italian Government has constructed this
Boarding School and the village. The main aim of this camp is the aesthetic
education of kids. It has been opened for the 8th time and has become a
popular and traditional one.
Work:
Volunteers
and kids together will do all rehearses with songs and dances of the presented
countries from where the volunteers have come and make decorations for
organizing a big performance.
Volunteers
also will organize different workgroups for children, where they can draw,
sculpture, learn different national and foreign songs and at the same time
there would be organized intellectual games, discos, basic English courses
and physical training classes.
By the end
of this camp volunteers will organize a performance and an exhibition of
works for local people, which will be conducted by children and also a
farewell party.

will live in YWCA Center.
Excursions:
A big excursion
program will be organized to different picturesque places of Armenia –
Sevan Lake, Echmiadzin Cathedral and Yerevan museums.

Location:
Yerevan Rehabilitation Center for Children
The camp is
situated not far from the center of Yerevan, the capital of Armenia, next
to the artificial Yerevan Lake, the bus station and the Brandy Factory
“Ararat” which is famous all over the world.
Work:
The aim of
this camp is to organize the leisure of children with motor-system infringement
and cardiac-vascular system illnesses.
Volunteers
will organize different workgroups for children, where they can draw, sculpture,
sing and dance, do physical training, there would also be organized intellectual
games, discos, basic English courses. Also the volunteers will do some
ecological work: maintaining the territory.
At the end
of the camp volunteers and children will organize a farewell party.
The main aim
of the camp- is the aesthetic education of kids. Volunteers, who help them,
come from different countries and bring along a lot of ideas, spirit, love
and warmth, kindness and make the stay of these children in this Center
a great holiday. They make these children feel that they are needed, full-valued
and to open their talants and abilities.
Accommodation

will stay in one of the cottages of the Rehabilitation Center and sleep
on beds.
Excursions:
A big excursion
program will be organized to different picturesque places of Armenia –
Garni Pagan Temple, Geghard cloister, Dilijan, Sevan Lake, Echmiadzin Cathedral
and Yerevan museums.

,,Hrazdan’’ Stadium
,,Hrazdan”
Stadium is situated on the height leading to the picturesque canyon of
Hrazdan river which divides the city into two parts. Thanks to the exact
architectural decision the stadium and the sport-complex have become an
original component of the architectural harmony and dynamically fulfil
to the beautiful landscape.
The stadium
contains 75 thousand seats and is in the neighborhood with Brazil Square
and Cognac Factory, which was established in 1887. The majestic church
by Saint Sarkis, Children Railway and resting areas are just the opposite
the canyon.
Work:
The stadium
has been renovated recently. Volunteers will do painting, cleaning up and
maintaining the territory of the stadium.
Accommodations:
Volunteers
will live in the building on the territory of the stadium.
Excursions:
Some trips
and hikes to the most beautiful places of Armenia, such as Garni Pagan
Temple, Geghard cloister, Echmiadzin Cathedral, museums of Yerevan, are
foreseen in the program of the camp.
Volunteers
will also have an opportunity to train themselves in the training halls
of the stadium and organize sport events together with the stadium staff,
visit the music studio in the territory of the stadium.

Location:
Garni Pagan Temple
Garni Pagan
Temple founded in 3rd-2nd B.C. in Hellenistic style served as a summer
residence of the Armenian kings. It is common knowledge that along with
its neighbors in Asia Minor and the Middle East Armenia had been drawn
into the sphere of Hellenic development and enjoyed contacts with the Hellenic
world, a future that had a definite influence on its art and architecture.
There is a
castle not far from the Garni Temple, which is one of the biggest evidences
of Armenian culture development level at those times.
Work:
Volunteers
will be involved in archeological, maintaining and environmental works
on the surrounding territory. Work will be led by two professionals of
the Department for the Protection of Historical and Natural Monuments of
National Archeological Institute.
Accommodation:
Volunteers
will stay and cook in the building not far from the temple.
Excursions:
Some trips
and hikes to the most beautiful places of Armenia, such as Geghard cloister,
Sevan Lake, Echmiadzin Cathedral, Khorvirap church, museums of Yerevan,
are foreseen in the program of the camp.
ACI-1 SPITAK

WORK:
The city of
Spitak is situates in the northwest of Armenia (2 hours by bus from Yerevan)
and suffered greatly during the disastrous earthquake in 1988. Until now
there is not much done in the earthquake area due to economical crisis.
The municipality of Spitak hosts volunteers from different foreign organizations.
In our camp volunteers will participate in repairing of needed people houses.
There will be Spitak University and it’s area repair works. Work will be
done mostly in the morning.
ACCOMMODATION:
Volunteers
will be accommodated in the building of Spitak University. Food will be
prepared, but volunteers should lay the tables and wash dishes for themselves.
Showers are in the local public bath. They must do their housework.
Please bring your sleeping bags or linen.
LASURE:
There are some
open-air cafes and a park not far from the University, but be ready to
organize your free time, because it is an earthquake area and there are
not many possibilities for spending free time. Bring with you tapes and
musical instruments. There will be some visits to the villages not far
from Spitak region.
All volunteers
will be seen in the airport if we receive their arrival detail one-week
prior arrival.

ACI-2 ARZNI

WORK:
Arzni is a
beautiful resort famous by its nature and mineral streams. It is located
about 20 km from Yerevan. In former Soviet Union is one of the biggest
resorts in the country. Volunteers will participate in the repairing and
painting of benches of the sanatorium for retired people. Aged people come
there in summer within a framework of state social aid program and spend
there a couple of weeks. There is a big swimming pool next door.
The sanitarium is right on the edge of a beautiful canyon. The volunteers
will do all the works connecting sanatorium fence repairing and painting.
These works will improve the conditions of the sanatorium for the retired
and crippled people. Work will be done mostly in the morning.
ACCOMMODATION:
Volunteers
will be accommodated in the building of the sanitarium and will eat in
the canteen. All facilities provided. They must do their housework.
Please bring your sleeping bags or linen.
LASURE:
There are open-air
cafes and other places to spend time. The area itself is beautiful so it
worth walking around and breathing clean mountainous air. Bring with you
tapes and musical instruments. There will be two excursions to see sights
of Armenia. All volunteers will be seen in the airport if we receive their
arrival detail one-week prior arrival.

main rivers’ canals, pick “foreign” grass from forests, pick silver shine
firesides and also other nature reservations. And volunteers will be picking

They must do their housework. Please bring your sleeping bags or linen.
