Project Description:
Baladna-Assosition for Arab Youth
in cooperation with Halisa Neighberhood local committee in Haifa initiating
summer voluntary camp that will bring togther 30 locals and foreigners
volunteers during 14 days doing diffrent voluntary work including working
with children and youngsters, painting public buildings, planting trees,
constraction and gardening etc…
Background:
Halisa Neighborhood:
Halisa is the poorest neighborhood
in Haifa. More than 70% of the population are Arabs, and it is with the
major number of youngsters between 13 to 20 years old. The fact that there
is a lack of social resources in the neighborhood consequently leads
to problems of drugs and the highest index of unemployed citizens in the
city.
In this context, we think it is very
important to apply the voluntary work camp there in order to initiate the
local community to improve and to motivate the youth for voluntary work
within the local society and the global community as a whole.
Baladna- association for Arab Youth:
Is an Arab youth organization founded
to give Arab youth in Israel a non-partisan frame, comfortable forum for
youth activities and informal education, centering on the discussion of
identity. A registered non-profit organization, aims to strengthen Arab
youths understanding of democracy and gender equality, to foster
pluralism and tolerance, and to enable a discussion and debate about Arab
Palestinian history, grievances, heratige and culture.
Note: participation fees 120$.
