Aspet is a small village in the heart
of Comminge at the foot of the Midi Pyren?es, with a small population of
1000 inhabitants continually trying to preserve their rich local
environment and heritage.
The project will be based on the
environment, mostly clearing hiking paths and cleaning small fountains
and old wash houses.
Location : Aspet is situated
between 2 rivers – the Ger and the Soueil - 90km away from TOULOUSE and
15 from St GAUDENS.
Specific informations : This teenager
workcamp will be supported by the Youth European Programme. There will
also be a chance to study an environmental theme (protection of nature,
recycling, ecology…).

The farm of Verdun is an old building
which was bought by our organisation last year to host all our activities
(regional office, workcamps with unemployed people, with associations,
with disadvantaged families, international summer workcamps, hosting medium
and long term volunteers..). The first part of the work carried out
by a team of volunteers and people in insertion has created our office
part and to some extent developed the outside. Our organisation needs your
help to continue this project. There will be several different types of
work: roughcasting and finishing of the exterior walls, construction of
an outside staircase, creation of a storage space, clearing and planting
of the garden (if it's not to hot) and creating a space for parking.
Location : Castres is situated in
the Tarn, in the Midi Pyr?n?es in a region teeming with rich cultural and
diverse natural surroundings. It's 75 km from TOULOUSE and 100km
from the Mediterranean sea.

The small town of Pouance is located
between Anjou and Haut Maine, in the past it was a strategic position when
Bretagne was not linked with France. An old listed castle (13th century)
dominates the town. Through the restoration of some parts of this castle,
you can discover stone and limestone masonry, repainting walls and laying
paving stones.
Location : Pouance is located around
60km from Rennes, Angers, Laval and Nantes.
Specific informations : This workcamp
will be carried out together with a group of 12 unemployed people working
on this project who are interested in international meetings and exchanges.

For 4 years, the small town of Breteil
has hosted international volunteers to restore it’s local heritage.
This year the inhabitants are again waiting for you impatiently! Lovers
of old stones will have the chance this summer to restore the walls surrounding
the church and discover the strong motivation of the local population to
preserve it’s heritage - they'll give you a hand for sure… Another
workcamp will be held close to yours : the youth of Breteil will be fitting
out a new place for youth activities , maybe they will need your help !
This could be a good opportunity to build links with this friendly village.
So the work will be based around traditional masonry (re-pointing stone
walls with lime). The local youth should also help you to discover the
area, the chance to try some sports and cultural activities, local traditional
village fetes…
Location : Breteil is located at
around 20km away from Rennes. This workcamp is situated in the middle of
" Pays de Broceliade" an enchanted and mystical country of many legends
and stories of your childhood -Merlin the Magician, King Arthur, Lancelot…

The yard of the presbytery with a
pigeon house attached to a wall, there’s the place, and now the work… M?c?
is a small rural community situated around 30km from Rennes.
It’s the local heritage association in collaboration with the town council
who started the project to conserve the local heritage. The aim of
the workcamp is the restoration of the pigeon house built in bricks, stones
and wood. The team of volunteers will also work on the walls surrounding
the yard (breaking, masonry and re-joining). The workcamp will
also be the chance to contribute in the social aspects of the local community
by meeting the locals and participating in the fetes and festivals organised
in the region all summer long.
Location : Mece is located at around
35km from Rennes, 20km from Vitr? and Foug?res and around 50km from Mont
St Michel.

For more than 30 years our association
in Brittany has been working with people in difficult situations to improve
their housing conditions. This workcamp will be a chance to meet
families isolated in countryside and to restore their homes (masonry, painting,
and woodwork). It's also a chance to learn different construction
skills and to offer solidarity to help these families.
Location : This workcamp will be
led in two different places around RENNES. The weekends will be devoted
to exploring the local countryside for exaple walking in the renowned "C?tes
rocheuses de la Bretange".

The lush hills of Bretagne are now
a poplar site for walkers who take advantage of the streams and twisting
routes through the hillsides. It features many stone paths
the locals call “roquets” whose walls have unfortunately, over time, fallen
to block the paths. The local population has decided to restore these “roquets”
to allow access to the ancient wash houses and water mills which, although
stopped working in the 19th century, are still dotted throughout the countryside.
The work itself will be to clear the paths and reconstruct the stone walls.
There is also the theatre festival which runs every year in August.
Musicians, comedians and storytellers overrun the ruins of the castle,
the church square, the theatre and the infamous caf? de Solange.
So this workcamp will be a chance to share strong moments and revel in
the magic of the show!

Le Mont des Alouettes is 231meters
high, strong western winds (ocean side) are blown across an 80km plateau
before being rebounded onto this hil ; it’s no wonder to find windmills
there! First constructed in 1564, 8 mills were still working until
the beginning of the 20th century. 3 of them still exist and 1 is still
working which allows us to understand more clearly how the millers worked
and gives us the chance to explain it to visitors. This place is the property
of the municipality of Herbiers which is in charge of giving the
area a bit more life. The youth of the village have started to restore
this heritage by organising workcamps to clean up and hosting tourists
to explain to them the history of these mills. You will start to clean
the surrounding area of one of the mills but the main task will be
to discover those which have disappeared . Their foundations are hidden
under vegetation and some heavy weeding will allow us to see their
foundations. This workcamp will be a good opportunity to meet the
local youth and to have a good time!
Location : Les Herbiers is 22km away
from Cholet and 42 from La Roche sur Yon. It will be possible to discover
the “Marais Poitevin” area (a protected natural site laden with canals)
and of course the Atlantic ocean which is 80km away.

Los Amigos is an cultural association
whose aim to promote artistic expression in all forms (music, painting,
sculpture, etc…). Working since 1995 in an old farm in the heart
of the wine country in Nantes the association has become a veritable focal
point for cultural activities. A place of cultural diffusion and
artistic creation itfeatures a bar and a theatre which is offered out to
local artists. The users who number around 50 are already working
on restoring and improving the hall to make it even more functional and
receptive. You will work equally on the renovation of the Mauguitonni?re
(the name of the hall) and the tidying up facade of the building, involving
minor masonry and giving it a fresh coat of paint. As the community
advocate a culturally free philosophy they want the place to be conducive
to cultural exchange and will undoubtedly host you with enthusiasm and
share their artistic talents.
Location : This workcamp is located
in Maisdon sur S?vre, in the Loire Atlantique departement. This area is
famous for it's white wine production that you will have the opportunity
to taste! Maisdon sur Sevre is around 20km far away from Nantes.

The small town of Pouanc? is situated
on the border of Anjou and Haut Maine historically a strategic region when
Bretagne was still independent of France. The 13th and 14th century
fortress of Marches of Bretagne and the Doors of Anjou dominate the city.
Today the objective of the restoration is to try to recreate the castle
as it was at the time. International volunteers have already come
in recent years to restore certain parts of the castle and carried out
some work: maintenance of paving stones, restoration of walls, sizing of
stones for the reconstruction of underground stairs and so on… Last
year saw the main entry entirely finished and the approach for the drawbridge
rebuilt from ruins. This year you will be constructing a small wooden
bridge to allow the visitors to gain access to the site. Main work : Building
of a small access bridge in wood and masonry.

The area of "Loudeac Men?" was known
in the 17th and 18th centuries as a real period of prosperity because of
a strong linen industry at the time and was home to a whole host of merchants
and weavers. Today only old factories, warehouses and stores testify to
this golden age. To restore and to promote this heritage there is a project
to open “The Linen Road” with a heritage centre, workshop and museum, different
means which allow us to bring alive this collective memory sometimes forgotten
over time. But a lot of work is still needed… In this camp you will
restore a linen wash house called a “Dou?”. It’s a water retention
basin built in stone and filled by a small river which allowed weavers
to steep linen. You will also clean another one which has disappeared under
vegetation. The workcamp will also be the chance to meet the locals and
participate in the fetes and festivals organised in the region all summer
long.

During this workcamp you will be
developing a valley situated in Saint Sauveur de Landemont,
in the heart of Mauges. Les Mauges (?!) may well seem like a strange name,
it means "metal country": the region has rich deposits of iron and shale
and throughout history man has exploited these natural resources by means
of a vast network of quarries and mines. Now only a few ruins bear
witness to the time. The work of the camp will mainly be concerned
with clearing undergrowth to reveal the rocks, restoring various stone
walls and generally improving the footpaths, bridleways and access to this
enviromental haven. With it's "theatre of greenery" the region is
also a place of local festivites and popular with the locals for trips
out. During the workcamp you'll have the chance to share these moments
and participate in the local festivites held in this natural site.

of an interior concrete slab . They are waiting for you not only to work
with them but also because they want this workcamp to be an intercultural
meeting and sociable, collective experience. The local youth should help
you to discover the area (Rennes and Brittany coast) and to share their
activities.

born in 1985. It aims to temporarily host people in difficult situations
to allow them to find physical, moral and spiritual energy to be better
involved and active in their lives. The centre is in countryside
and it hosts around 20 people with different backgrounds. Social
help, leisure activities, maintenance work and gardening, are all daily
activities of the residents. An international summer workcamp will
be a big event and should allow you to give even more energy to the place
- by animating the social side and physically the workcamp itself will
transform 2 hangars into workshops which will be used by the residents
to do handy work. Work to be done includes laying breezeblocks, insulation
and painting.

Guitalens municipality has begun
a massive restoration of this ancient village. Last summer 2 international
workcamps created a network of bicycle and footpaths and they want
to continue this unforgettable experience with the restoration and
rebuilding of traditional elements of the village. Different works are
planned mainy centering around the repointing, demolition and rebuilding
of old and broken roughcast walls.
Location : Guitalens is a small village
20km away from Castres and 60 from Toulouse. It's a "land of plenty" where
many cultural and physical activities are possible (excursions to local
beauty spots like the Sidobre, Albi, tennis…). A warm reception waits for
you at the hands of the local population.

Lacaze is a small picturesque village
in the Gijou valley in the middle of Black Mountains. It’s castle illustrates
its very rich historical and cultural history. Since 2000 different international
workcamps have been led and the community wants to continue the work to
improve the look of the village. Work to be done includes the restoration
of small walls in stone and small streets in the village. Cleaning of some
hiking paths and if necessary the renovation of a small riverside wall.
Location : Lacaze is a small village
located 40km away from Castres and around 21 from Lacaune. The village
is encapsulated by a rich variety of natural sites (Sidobre, Monts de Lacaune,
Vall?e du Gijou, Vall?e de l'Ago?t), that you will have the opportunity
to discover during your leisure time.

famous area. Surrounded by renowned wine producing estates with rich heritage
of castles, fountains, and chapels this camp will give you the chance to
try some carpentry with the maintenance of the chapel pews, restoration
of the village and clearing of local footpaths.
Location : Floressas is around 35km
from Cahors in the Lot in the middle of the Midi Pyr?n?es.
Specific informations : It will be
possible to have an introduction to stone cutting with a local artisan
and to be involved in the preparation of the local fete.

The Terre d’Embazac organisation
has set their activities in an old farm typical of the area.
On the top of a hill overhanging the countryside, this charming old
farm offers a privileged place for creative minds. The aim of the Terres
d’Embazac association is to promote manual and natural work with different
members of the public. Besides contact with children who will visit this
pedagogical farm during the camp you will have the possibility to discover
the rich medicinal and cosmetic benefits of animal products, particularly
donkey milk. The work camp will be a good chance to learn how to use natural
materials: the construction of a stable for the donkeys using wood and
daub will be on the agenda and gives you a chance to discover a more natural
form of art.

Compagnons Batisseurs in Provence
has arranged a workcamp with a team of European volunteers to help renovate
the historic and colourful quarter of " Panier" in Marseille. Historically
this quarter has always hosted newly arrived foreigners. The charm
and eccentricities of this quarter have been progressively disappearing
as new housing projects have led people to live on the outskirts of the
city. During this camp you will be carrying out renovation work:
painting, papering, plumbing and electricity. There will be also
a chance to study the multi -culturality and arrangement of the old quarter
itself.
Location : Marseille is a sprawling
metropolis of 800 000 inhabitants, situated next to the sea and one of
the biggest ports in the Mediterranean. With a cosmopolitan population
this city has many facets: pleasant walks along the old portside,
a myriad of museums, strolling through the old quarters, Notre Dame de
la Garde and it's viewpoint, without forgetting the hot beaches and small
islands just a short boat ride away.

During this camp you will discover
the Provencal landscape : Camargue, Crau and smaller ranges of the
Alps - considered as "the golden triangle" by naturalists.
You will observe the birds in their natural surroundings (flamingos , lesser
kestrels, rollers, bee eaters, buzzards….). You will also meet farmers,
shepherds, as well as volunteers who are working for environmental associations.
The work is mainly maintenance of footpaths and restoration of huts for
protected and rare birds from Southern Europe. This workcamp will
be supported by the Youth European Programme. Five young volunteers
from four different countries will be involved in this environmental project
. This camp will take place in the Arles area.
Location : This workcamp will take
place in the Camargue Natural Park; this area is famous for its bulls,
cowherds and horses. You'll also have a chance to discover Arles and the
famous Gallo Roman city.

the hot weather physical activities will be held in the morning and

The "Renaissance du Bois Sacr? des
Enfants de l'Etoile" organisation was created in 1997, after the terrible
forest fire on the massive hill of Etoile where 3500ha of forest
were destroyed. Its principal aim is to recreate the "Bois Sacr?" (sacred
wood) with the help of volunteers and children involved during the year.
By this they hope to wake up, maintain and develop respect and environmental
consciensciousness in the population. The reforestation project is linked
with the renovation of old "restaques" (or Bancaous) which are small dry
stone walls built for protection against erosion and ground slip - hundreds
of meters of walls need to be restored. Works to be carried out includes
the restoration and building of "Restaques", clearing the undergrowth around

in the Southern Alps. Together with the municipality this workcamp aims
to rebuild and restore an old church from 13th century located on the top
of a hill near an old abandoned village. 2 workcamps have already
been carried out in 1999 and 2000. Work to be done includes the demolition
and reparation of the nave roof, the strengthening of an internal pillar
and levelling with stone the walls and gable.
Location : Peyroules is located in
South Alps around 100km from Cannes and Cote d'Azur. It's in an isolated
valley surrounded with small hills, 30 Mins from Gorges du Verdon.

located on a footpath. The village is today covered by vegetation. This
workcamp will allow us to clear a part of the site. Work to be done includes

The hamlet of Chasteuil is located
in Gorges du Verdon. Castellane municipality wants to continue to
restore the church of the hamlet. It's an isolated place, where some craftsmen,
artists, painters and sculptors are living. The area around the church
is already a meeting point for the village's inhabitants. They've been
delighted by the work carried out and the atmosphere in the village during
our workcamps which started in 1999. Work to be done includes demolition
and reconstruction of the church's gallery in wood and pursuing the reconstruction
of the sacristy just outside the church.
Location : Chasteuil is located 7
km far away from Castellane. It's an isolated hamlet on the top of a hill
in the Gorges du Verdon an enchanted and famous place around 100km
away from Cannes and Cote d'Azur where you are sure of a warm welcome.

La Garde is a small village situated
in the Southern Alps. The municipality wants to pursue the restoration
of a chapel started in 2001 by an international youth workcamp. It's situated
at the start of a footpath going through Verdon Park. Work
to be done includes the mending of the lower walls, scraping and roughcasting
of the exterior walls and reconstruction of the main door.
Location : La Grade is a small village
located near to Castellane in Alpes de Haute Provence, just at the entrance
of the Gorges du Verdon in a green tableland at an altitude of 1100 metres
where several sources run from the Alps. It's 100km from Cannes and
C?te d'Azur.

connects the village to an old church from the 13th century. This "calade"
is constructed from stone and is a very pleasant walk especially during
summer for the locals. Work to be done includes: clearing the ground
of undergrowth, removing the older stones and relaying the " calade" with
new ones.

in the Southern Alps on the Bl?one side. It's a city well known for it's
baths. Digne is around 100km from Marseille just next to the mountains.
Surrounded with lush hills, the green hamlet of Courbon is a good holiday
location where in summer the friendliness of the locals is appreciated.

Brin de Jardin is an association
whose aims is to raise the awareness of the environment to a varied public
(children, adults) and to improve the lifestyle of people suffering from
difficulties (social, psychological and physical) through gardening
workshops. In this way they want to reintegrate the vegetable
environment into daily life and create (with the help of the public)
individual and independent identities in different green spaces -school
yards, old people homes, hospitals... This workcamp follows another carried
out by a team from Compagnons B?tisseurs during the year. The work consists
of the construction of a wooden barn using traditional materials : building
the framework in wood and covering it with slate. Eventually this
barn will be used to shelter an horticultural space specially adapted for
the physically handicapped.

of 2 homes of residents of the community. This workcamp is the follow up
of another successfully carried out 2 years ago. Interior work will be
