For the 4th year, the leisure
centre EPMM will host an international Spring workcamp ; in this centre
many sport activities are proposed (kayak, climbing, archery…). You will
help them preparing the summer season.
You will create two new collective
game courts (badminton and beach volley): You will prepare the site
and build a concrete edge around the fields. You will install posts
and lighting.
This project takes place 30km
from Mende, the principal town in Lozere, in a beautiful surrounding (the
famous Gorges du Tarn). Sainte Enimie is a lovely place, crowded by tourists
in summer time (but not too much in May/June).
Accommodation: You will be accommodated
under tents in the centre, with all facilities.

This camp is organised for the
first time in the community of communes of Valdonnez ; you are invited
to renovate the footpath network.
You will clean, clear and mark
footpaths crossing very diverse environments: forests, gorges, peat bogs,
moor, cliffs…
The project takes place in a very
beautiful surrounding: the limestone plateau of Mende. It is a middle mountain
landscape. The place is quite isolated and very appropriated for walkers
and nature lovers.
Accommodation: in a self-catering
cottage, quite far from the works… you will have to walk !

St Brieuc - Brittany - 12 vol.
Begard area gathers seven rural
communes rarely in contact with international exchanges. Some associations
protecting the building and natural heritage started to give some dynamism
to the local activities. Etudes et Chantiers Bretagne, UNAREC local agency,
organised many workcamps and work training project in the are. This year
we plan to settle a permanent activity basis for our projects ; the aims
are to encourage meetings between people from different cultures
and backgrounds, to make volunteering better known in the area and to renovate
the local building heritage.
Different kinds of work will be
proposed to the volunteers, depending on the period they will stay in the
project. Work will be decided on their arrival.
Like in the past years, some work
will be done on Kermoroch's site: you will build a 12 metre footbridge
giving access to the top of this feudal hill. ; you might also do some
masonry work on a dovecote and clear the vegetation in le Palacret, a group
of buildings (farms, houses, chapel, water-mill, wash houses).
You will be integrated in a team
of permanent staff, local volunteers, people of work-training projects….
Begard area is located between Guingamp and Lannion, north west of France.
You will have many contacts with the local population and you will discover
the beauties of the region.
Accommodation: you will be accommodated
in tents on the sports field of a village nearby.

For a long time the municipality
of Aurillac has worked with our association to set up permanent training
projects for disadvantaged adults ; for the second time an international
workcamp will be organised to improve the public facilities ; this
year you are expected to build terraces around the municipal tennis courts.
You will build concrete and wooden
terraces half on flat ground and half on a slope. This is not a demanding
work but it must be done with application.
Aurillac is the biggest town of
the department (30,000 inhabitants) situated between the Auvergne volcanoes
and chestnut groves (330 meters high). You can find there all public facilities
and you will have the opportunity to discover the beautiful surroundings.
Aurillac is very famous for its international street theatre festival which
takes place each August.

Rennes - Brittany - 12 vol.
The local association "histoire,
patrimoine et m?tallurgie en Broceliande" (History, Heritage and Metallurgy
in Broceliande) has organised every summer for 4 years the "Iron Party".
The aim is to bring to life again the metallurgic heritage, with the presence
of local craftsmen. This festival takes place near the lake of Paimpont,
in Central Brittany.
You are invited to rebuild 3 different
furnaces : a traditional one, an archaeological one and a Japanese one
(tatara). You will also help making charcoal. You will participate to the
organisation of the festival which gathered last year 15 craftsmen and
more than 2000 visitors.
This project is situated
in the heart of the famous Broceliande forest, well-known for the legend
of King Arthur and his knights. The nearest big town is Rennes, capital
of Brittany (50km) which you will visit during the street theatre festival
at the beginning of July. You will have of course many contacts with the
local craftsmen and the visitors in a very friendly atmosphere.
Accommodation: You will
be accommodated in tents, near the municipal campsite and a football pitch
; it is located 5 minutes walk from the working place.

For the 6th year, the Antoine
Ko?nigswater centre and the young people of this institution are happy
to organise an international workcamp. All over the year, this socio-educational
centre (in a castle) hosts young people facing serious social difficulties
(for ex: very low educational level, hard familial conditions). Once again
the international group will work with the young residents.
You will work in the man-made
lakes in the park of the castle: you will stop the growing of an invasive
aquatic plant and remove the silt from the bottom of the lakes. This project
will make you discover a rich ecosystem and learn practical techniques.
Gillevoisin Ch?teau, 3 km from
the town of Janville sur Juine (3000 inhabitants), is in a pleasant and
peaceful valley, one hour from Paris. You will have the chance to discover
the nice natural and built heritage of this half-rural area. Even if Paris
is not far away, you are in the countryside. Be aware that it is not so
easy to organise visits to Paris. So if you want to visit the French capital,
it is better to plan it before, or after the camp.
Accommodation: You will be accommodated
in tents, in the park of the castle. There will be a big tent for the meals
and kitchen and 6-bed tents for sleeping. To have a wash you will use the
bathrooms of the castle.

Le Puy en Velay - Auvergne - 8

Near the gorges of the Loire river
and close to the city of Le Puy en Velay, the charming picturesque little
town named Monastier sur Gazeille is hosting for the 5th year an international
workcamp. Once again the group will preserve elements of the rural heritage.
Last year, 2 bread-oven were restored. This summer you will renovate a
wash-house.
A local craftsman will help you
to improve the water-tightness, by removing the outdoor cement and
replacing it with a new cement. This wash house is 40 years old.
You will use a minibus to go from
the accommodation to the work. You will have the opportunity to discover
this beautiful region and meet locals through activities organised by the
group.
Accommodation: in tents, in the
municipal campsite, near the river and close to the village centre ; showers
and bathrooms available. The meals will be prepared and taken in
a big tent.

In Dallet, close to Clermont-Ferrand,
you will work on the environment of the village. Some years ago international
workcamps have been organised in this village and the local population

a footpath to make it accessible for walkers.
You will discover the surroundings
of this pretty medieval village (1000 inhabitants) in the Puy de Dome.
You can find some shops and public facilities.

For several years the pretty medieval
town of Marvejols has organised a festival of dance, music, theatre and
street shows. You are invited once again for 2 kinds of works: environmental
and festival.
At first you will clean the banks
of the Colagne river ; then you will give a hand to install terraces and
stages for the festival.
Marvejols is located in a lovely
old mountains area, not far away from the Parc Naturel des Cevennes with
its famous "wolf of the Gevaudan". Mende is the nearest town. You will
have the opportunity to visit the natural beauties of the surroundings.
Accommodation: You will be lodging
under tents near the town centre on the banks if the Colagne river.

This is the 6th year that the
commune and the local population of Bouray sur Juine will host an International
workcamp. As well as enjoying activities with the local young people (by
organising parties, sports and leisure activities), the aim of the project
is to protect the environment.
You will build a 100m? composting
station situated 2km from the village: you will lay fences, build wooden
sections and make the floor waterproof.
You will have the chance to discover
the nice natural and built heritage of this half-rural area. You will meet
the local population and volunteers from other workcamps taking place in
the area at the same time. Even if Paris is not far away (45km), you are
in the countryside. Be aware that it is not so easy to organise visits
to Paris. So if you want to visit the French capital, it is better to plan
it before, or after the camp.

Saint Die - Lorraine - 12 vol.
In the Plaine Valley, a community
of communes has started an important programme to renovate footpaths, destroyed
by the 1999 storm. They also aim to renovate touristic places. One of them
is the Maix lake, a glacial lake, with a chapel and a XIIth
century crypt. Etudes et Chantiers Lorraine, our local agency in the East
Part of France organises also professional work projects for people facing
difficulties in this area. You will work in the forest surrounding the
village of Vauxiere.
You will clean the path leading
from the valley to the lake: cleaning, removing fallen trees, installing
steps, improving the surroundings of the chapel and of the crypt.
This project will take place in
the heart of the Vosges, a mountainous and forest area. There are many
nice walks to do in the surroundings and you can bathe in another lake
(not glacial !) nearby. You will also visit Alsace and High Vosges. You
will have many opportunities to meet the local population.
Accommodation: You will be accommodated
in a former holiday centre with all facilities in Vauxiere village (250
inhabitants).

Nancy - Lorraine - 12 vol.
For the second year this project
will be organised in Pont-a-Mousson, a small town (12,000 inhabitants)
situated half way between Nancy and Metz, in the east part of France. Some
years ago, local youth started to renovate footpaths surrounding the town
in order to encourage the inhabitants to enjoy the nature. In 2001 they
invited international volunteers to join them ; it was a great success
so they are looking forward to hosting another workcamp.
With the local youth you will
continue the work started last year ; you will participate in laying out
footpaths around a small nature site "la Fontaine Rouge" (the red fountain)
very near the town and much appreciated by the inhabitants. There you will
clean (removing tree stumps) , clear vegetation, mark footpaths. You will
also install benches, tables… alongside the footpaths.
The project takes place in the
Lorraine Regional Natural Park ; in the town you can find all shops
and public facilities ; many summer activities are organised there, particularly
theatre and musical shows in the streets. You will have the opportunity
to participate in local events organised in different places of the
town ; you will also enjoy sports activities (swimming pool, crazy golf…).
Accommodation: You will be accommodated
in tents near the town centre. A building with bathrooms and kitchen will
be at your disposal.

Aurillac - Auvergne - 15 vol.
A local association has organised
an international dance and music festival for 16 years in the pretty town
of Murat ; for many years they have asked international volunteers
to come and help them to give a hand and support the local volunteers.
You will set up the halls where
the shows take place in, decorate the town, clean the different sites,
prepare the accommodation of the musicians and dancers. You will also give
some information to the visitors and keep the bar.
Murat is a town of 2500 inhabitants
with all facilities located at the foot of the ancient volcanic mountains
of Cantal, 50km North of Aurillac. Etudes et Chantiers has local office
in Murat with a multimedia point which you can use. Be aware that
Festival workcamps don't have the same working schedule as "classical"
workcamps ; the workcamp participants will be separated during the work
to be integrated in local volunteer teams. So you have to be very flexible
and speak French. A letter of motivation is requested with your application.
Accommodation: you will
be accommodated the first week in the boarding school ; then you will move
to the municipal campsite (under tents), very near to the festival site.

Nancy- Lorraine - 12 vol.
This project is organised in partnership
with "la Citadelle" (the citadel), a local association gathering many volunteers
from Villey le Sec. Its aim is to renovate an ancient fort situated all
around the village and to promote cultural activities there. Each year
more than 2500 visitors discover the site. For the 5th year, an international
workcamp will be a highlight for the Citadelle and the villagers.
This summer you will renovate
an ancient fortified chest. You will also lay out a footpath to give a
better access to this chest. This work will give you the opportunity to
discover masonry techniques and stone-cutting.
Villey le Sec (344 inhabitants)
is located 7km from Toul. There is no shop in the village ; you will have
many contacts with the local population. Participating in the local associative
and cultural life will be one of the priorities of the workcamp. The project
takes place in a rural area. Many of the villages have a remarkable building
heritage (ancient farms, wash houses, churches...). During summertime,
fairs are organised to revive local traditions. You will have the opportunity
to bathe in the lakes nearby or to visit Nancy and Metz, two towns close
to Villey le Sec, with street-theatre festival and summer activities. A
local associative radio "Declic" is based in Villey le Sec. You will have
the great chance to lead a programme (30 minutes each day) about the workcamp
day life.
Accommodation: you will be accommodated
under tents, near the fort ; the multipurpose hall will be at your disposal,
with an equipped kitchen and a large activity room. You will live in the
centre of the village and share the life of the inhabitants.

Saint Die - Lorraine - 12 vol.
The local association "the Meurthe
orchards" was born a few years ago to create orchards on an empty piece
of land, near a by-pass route. Etudes et Chantiers Lorraine is involved
since the beginning in the Meurthe orchards project and organised there
a work training project with people facing difficulties. The orchards have
a very important role in the local dynamic. The aim of this workcamp will
be to create an educational footpath in the heart of the orchards.
You will improve the footpath
(marking, installing wooden steeps, benches, fences…). You will help
to create information boards alongside the path.
The project takes place near Raon
L'Etape (6700 inhabitants), where is located our regional office for the
East part of France. You will discover the region and certainly enjoy the
lake situated 15km away. The Hautes Vosges and Alsace are very close.

For the 3rd year the Permanent
Centre for Environmental Education will host international workcamps.
This structure has a programme to restore water courses in its district.
The group will work at an environmental site to prove that alternative
river management is better than strong dredging.
You will improve the water flew
of the river using gentle methods ; you will work on the vegetation of
the river banks on 6 linear kilometres using environmentally friendly techniques
: planting trees and building wooden fences to protect the banks.
The project is located in a 300
inhabitant village (Bonzee) 20 km from Verdun. The permanent staff of the
centre will drive you to the worksite ; bicycles will also be at your disposal.
In Bonzee you will have the opportunity to use local services (a bar, a
riding school and a leisure basis). You will participate in summer festivities,
particularly inter-villages games. A party could be organised by the group
to invite the local population. In Bonzee area there are many interesting
natural and cultural sites to discover. For this project, it is very important
to feel concerned by environmental aspects.

in the centre, with very good conditions. Meals will be prepared by the
centre.

The XIth century ramparts (3,5
kilometres) of Bourg le Roi are being restored ; they constitute a precious
building heritage for inhabitants and could contribute to the development
of local tourism of the area. Two years ago, Etudes et Chantiers Bretagne
(UNAREC local agency) started renovating the site with a programme for
people facing difficulties (work training projects), then by organising
international workcamps.
You will strengthen fragile or
collapsed walls and you will do pointing on the ramparts. You might work
with local young people involved in this permanent project.
Bourg le Roi is a village (340
inhabitants) situated 10 km from Alen?on and 30km from Le Mans. These 2
towns are very nice and picturesque. You will have the opportunity to visit
them. The surrounding is green and there are beautiful forests. The Mont
Saint Michel (the eighth wonder of the world !) is located 1h20 from
the workcamp. You will probably make a trip !

The commune of Beganne and a local
organisation for the conversation of the building heritage are developing
activities to involve the local community and particularly younger people.
With that aim they asked us to organise again a workcamp this summer.
You are invited to renovate a
XIIIth century bread oven and a well which are placed on a touristic footpath
; you will use traditional masonry techniques (stone and lime).
You will have many contacts with
the local population ; this project takes place 15km from Redon and the
Atlantic coast is 30km away ; there are many leisure activities possible.
Mid-August an important building heritage festival will be organised and
you will participate.
Accommodation: you will
be accommodated in tents in a football pitch (with bathrooms) ; you will
use a minibus to go to the working place.

In Nozay, there are abandoned
slates quarries which are partly flooded. In the aim of improving the site
and opening it to visitors, a workcamp will be organised for the first
time.
You will build a traditional quarryman
house and do some cleaning, clearing on the site.
Nozay is a little town with all
public facilities located 35 km of Nantes. As the sea is not so far, it
will be quite easy to have activities !!!

Aurillac - Auvergne - 10 vol.
In summer 2001 the Jordanne river
suffered from a high pollution ; the AAPPMA (association for the protection
of water environment and fish farming) aims to protect the area and to
create a natural reserve. This workcamp will help them by cleaning the
river banks.
You will clean and clear the river
banks: clearing the vegetation, cutting some trees and bushes. The work
is quite demanding (you will sometimes work in the water). It is recommended
to know how to swim !
The camp takes place in the outskirts
of Aurillac, the biggest town of Cantal department (30,000 inhabitants).
Aurillac is very famous for its international street theatre festival which
will take place at the same time as the camp ; you should have the opportunity
to visit it… after the work is finished !
This camp will be an international
French speaking project ; so French will be the official language of the
camp.
Accommodation: You will be accommodated
under tents in the municipal campsite with all facilities, in St Simon,
3km from Aurillac, in the Jordanne valley - 500 meters from the working
place.

Mulhouse - Alsace - 20 vol.
Once again the Ballon des Vosges
regional Park (east part of France) is organising an international workcamp
with an environmental aim. The project will take place on the Honneck mountain
(1200 meter high) which attracts many walkers and hikers in summer. To
stop the damages caused by them you will improve the footpath network.
You will lay fences alongside
the paths to channel the walkers and to protect the remarkable flora.
You will also mark the footpaths and install signpostings.
The camp is located in the beautiful
Alsace region, 50km from Mulhouse. The place is quite isolated, in the
heart of the Vosges mountains. There will be a sort of study part
on the topic of the landscape: how it is appreciated by those who live
in it and those who discover it for the first time. Together you will also
find out how the landscape changes and evolves. For that aim you will use
various artistic techniques. Please bring pictures of the landscape you
are living in !
Accommodation: You will be accommodated
in a ski refuge well equipped with a kitchen, rooms, bathrooms and a friendly
biggest room for the evenings.

Nancy - Lorraine - 12 vol.
For the first time a workcamp
will be organised in Favieres, a very dynamic village which developed
many activities these last years. In 2001 a first workcamp took place nearby.
This gave the idea to Favieres municipality to invite you to restore
local heritage and help developing tourism. You will renovate the
ancient cemetery which is not used for about a century. The aim is to keep
the magical atmosphere where villagers go for walks. There fairy tales
shows are organised for the children.
You will rebuild the surrounding
walls and use dry-stone techniques. You will also renovate paths inside
the cemetery and do some clearing in the place.
Favieres is a rural village (400
inhabitants) located 30km from Toul and 50km from Nancy. There is a little
bakery/grocery and a water leisure centre which hosts about 10,000 visitors
each year. You will have the opportunity to bathe there and to visit Nancy
or Metz.
Accommodation: You will be accommodated
in the ancient presbytery (with bathrooms and kitchen) ; if you want you
can sleep inside (very rustic !) or in the garden, under tents.

Strasbourg - Alsace - 12 vol.
SAVA is a local association based
near Strasbourg and involved in the preservation of the environment. They
regularly host international workcamps. This year they propose you to give
a helping hand to the "Conservatoire des sites Alsaciens" which maintains
many natural sites in Alsace. Together with the local volunteers you will
help to protect a natural reserve with a particular fauna and flora : dry
meadows.
The main work will consist in
cleaning the lawn by clearing the woody vegetation and cutting trees
and bushes. You will also install informative boards and remove the rubble.
Soultz les Bains is a village
(700 inhabitants) situated at the foot of the Vosges Mountains, 20km south-west
from Strasbourg. In Molsheim - 9400 inhabitants - 4km from the camp, you
will find all public facilities and shops. There are many places to discover
in the surroundings (Strasbourg - the European Parliament - Colmar,
the Rhin forest). The group might also do sport activities (canoe, walks…).
Accommodation: You will be accommodated

In the centre of France, in the
Allier department, there is a medieval fortress (XIIIth century) : Montaigu
le Blin, which is expecting you for the restoration ! There is a long history
between Etudes et Chantiers and this castle: in the 80's many workcamps
were organised by our association to stop this site from falling into ruins.
Work was abandonned 9 years ago but started again in September 2001 with
a clearing and cleaning of the site.

Montaigu is a little village (100
inhabitants) situated 10km from Varenne sur Allier and 30km from Moulin,

For the second year we collaborate
with the CEPE (Permanent Environmental Education Centre) to organise an
international workcamp. This centre regularly hosts children and young
people from Clermont-Ferrand schools. There they can discover or get another
view of their natural environment through activities about nature. You
will continue the work of the previous group by arranging an educational
pond.
You will build wooden posts and
install fences around the pond.
The centre is located in a beautiful
landscape (in the Volcanoes Regional Park) at the edge of a forest, quite
remote from the village where you can find some shops and public facilities.
The closest big city - Clermont-Ferrand - is 15 km away. You will have
the opportunity to visit the surroundings and participate to environmental
activities with the staff of the centre.
Accommodation: You will be accommodated
in a bungalow of the centre, with very nice bathrooms (4-6 beds in
a room) ; there is a big room for the evenings ; the meals will be
prepared by the "chef" ; the volunteers won't cook.

this centre where we organise our General assemblies and our Post Camp
week-ends !!!

Saint Die - Lorraine - 12 vol.
Last year a camp took place in
the village "La Petite Fosse" (the small pit !) ; this year a camp
will take place in "la Grande Fosse" (the big pit !) which is very close.
The project in 2001 was a great success and the local population really
enjoyed it ; hosting international volunteers was a very stimulating and
interesting time so they are looking forward to doing it again ! The aim
of this project is to renovate ancient orchards.
You will clean, clear, cut and
plant ! You will also install wooden elements to improve the site
(fences, informative boards..).
La Grande Fosse village (150 inhabitants)
is located in the Vosges middle mountains, between Nancy and Strasbourg.
There is no shop nor public facilities - except an associative bar open
once or twice a week ! The nearest town, Saint Die, is 15km away. Of course
you will have many contacts with the local population who will do its best
to make you discover the beautiful natural (forests, lakes) and cultural
(medieval castles, former mines, Celtic sites…) heritage. As this project
will take place during apple harvesting, you will be involved in the Apple
Day. You will help the villagers to harvest apples… and to prepare apple-pies,
apple-jam… and apple-juice !
Accommodation: You will be accommodated
in a chalet with equipped kitchen and bathrooms. If the weather is nice
you will sleep under tents - if not, in the chalet. There is no shower
in the chalet but you will use those from a centre, (a few minutes away).

organising workcamps for teenagers in 1962.
In France, activities for minors
are protected by the law which gives a frame. These rules facilitate the
organisation of workcamps and the security of the volunteers.
Some projects are open to English
speaking volunteers ; all of our projects are open to French speaking volunteers.
As on adult camps the volunteers
achieve a concrete project (of course!)- about 25 hours per week.
The leader team is composed of
3 people who are qualified in leading ; they are staff paid and they are
responsible of the volunteers.
Teenagers are taken in charge
on their arrival at the train station ; they can’t leave the camp without
a written authorisation signed by their parents and sent to our organisation.
Each volunteer must send a “health
formular” (filled by a doctor) to our office with the confirmation of arrival
before the camp starts.
To participate in these camps,
volunteers must pay extra-fees before going to the project (200 ˆ) to the
sending organisation who pay it to us at the end of the season.
Volunteers who are 17 years old
and who have already participated in a workcamp can participate to Adult
workcamps.

The local associations “Terre
de Clayes” and “St Gilles nature” aim to renovate the footpaths network
in the surroundings of the village of Clayes.
You will clear vegetation to open
a new footpath (500 meters) for walkers.
The camp takes place 20km of Rennes,
principal town of Brittany. Most of the people living in Clayes work in
Rennes and are not very involved in the local life of the village. One
of the aims of the project will be to interest them to the local environment.
You will have opportunities to discover the beautiful surroundings (Saint
Malo, Emerald coast, Mont Saint Michel).

Since 2000, the village of Champagnac
hosts international workcamps. Once again you are invited to improve the
environment of this friendly village.
You will clear the vegetation
of an undergrowth to make it more accessible to walkers. The work will
take place on a rocky promontory.
This region is an ancient volcanic
area. You will have the opportunity to meet the local population and visit
the surroundings. Champagnac (1500 inhabitants) is situated in the gorges
of the Dordogne ; you can find shops and public facilities.

in Volvic, in the heart of the Volcanoes Regional Park. There are many
contacts with the local population, ready to welcome an international workcamp.
This year you are expected to
renovate footpaths (cleaning, clearing) surrounding the village which
is very typical with its XIV century castle.
Volvic (3500 inhabitants) is very
famous for its water and its black stone (from the volcanoes). You can
find shops and public facilities there. It is situated 15km from
Clermont-Ferrand, the regional main town. You will certainly have the opportunity
to visit the area by walking in the forest or bathing in a lake or dreaming
in a castle…
Accommodation: You will be accommodated
in tents with all facilities (showers and toilets) in a rugby
stadium, located 900 meter high, 6 km from the work. Don't worry, a minibus
will be used for the journeys !

For several years now a local
association has worked to preserve the ruins of the castle of Randon. As
many volunteers have already done during summer workcamps you will
continue the work. The aim of the local association is to carry out a topographic
study and then to create a model of the area.
You will clear the vegetation
(broom) which grows all around the site.
Rieutord de Randon is a
little village located in a hilly landscape (1400 m. high), near Mende,
the biggest town of the area. The countryside all around is beautiful ;
the place is quite isolated. You will have the opportunity to walk in the
surroundings and bathe in the lakes nearby.
Accommodation: The accommodation
will be in tents in the municipal campsite.

The XIth century ramparts (3,5
kilometres) of Bourg le Roi are being restored ; they constitute a precious
building heritage for inhabitants and could contribute to the development
of local tourism of the area. Two years ago, Etudes et Chantiers Bretagne
(UNAREC local agency) started renovating the site with a programme for
people facing difficulties (work training projects), then by organising
international workcamps.
You will strengthen fragile or
collapsed walls and you will do pointing on the ramparts. You might work
with local young people involved in this permanent project.
Bourg le Roi is a village (340
inhabitants) situated 10 km from Alen?on and 30km from Le Mans. These 2
towns are very nice and picturesque. You will have the opportunity to visit
them. The surrounding is green and there are beautiful forests. The Mont
Saint Michel (the eighth wonder of the world !) is located 1h20 from
the workcamp. You will probably make a trip !

In the centre of France, alongside
the volcanoes of the region Auvergne is the village of Blanzat (4000 inhabitants).
Etudes et Chantiers has there an office for permanent insertion projects
(work training projects with adults facing difficulties) in the village
; we regularly organise workcamps with the local council. This
year you are invited to renovate the footpath network.
You will build information
boards and research the information to be written on them (cultural, historical...).
You will do poker-work and painting, before installing these information
boards.
Blanzat is located 10km north
of Clermont-Ferrand. Because of its location (close to the city and close
to the nature) there are many opportunities for different activities and
many contacts with the local population.
Accommodation: You will be accommodated
in tents on a football pitch ; you will use the bathrooms of the
changing room. There is a wooden hut to be used as a kitchen.

In the beautiful Cantal department,
you are invited to participate in the restoration of bread oven. The camp
will take place in Dienne, a little village near the Puy Mary (a very sleepy
volcano).
You will renovate the bread-oven
(masonry work) ; you will also install typical tiles on the roof (lauze).
You will have the opportunity
to discover the region ; walks will be organised in the surrounding mountains
and you should have the chance to study the fauna (marmots, mouflons,
fawns…).
