MS/01  Hvolris, Jutland (Jylland) Sunday 23rd of June – Saturday 6th of July  CONS/ARTS 13

The volunteers will be working in the Sculpture Park. The sculptures are modern pieces of art made from inspiration in the Ironage everyday life and mythology creating a more artful spirit as opposed to the historically reconstructed houses in the Ironage Village. The intention is, through artistic ideas and concrete crafts, to give visitors a more profound impression of Ironage.
The work will specificly consists of building up four sculptures in the Sculpture Park itself and to set up an information pavillon at the entrance of the Ironage Village. The sculptures will be made from natural materials and an artist will be guiding the work. Work tasks will, among other things,  be digging, setting up a fence, setting up the pavillion etc.
MS/02 Bregentved, Zealand (Sjaelland) Sunday 23rd of June – Saturday 6th of July          CONS/FEST/KIDS 13

In co-operation with local volunteers the workcamp will participate in setting up of the childrens animal fair, i.e. painting, decoration, setting up stables and exhibitions, cooking. During the weekend where the fair takes place the workcamp volunteers will participate in organising competitions and workshops, manage the parking place, work in the cafeteria and sales booths etc. After the weekend the fair has to be taken down and the area has to be cleaned up.
Volunteers should expect to work during the weekend but will get some time off at the end of the two week period.
MS/03 Lumby, Funen (Fyn) Sunday 30th of June – Saturday 13th July RENO/SOCI 13

Lumby has an old windmill built in 1820. It is in an excellent shape, one of the best maintained old windmills in Denmark, and still working in spite of its age. A local windmill association takes care of the maintenance of the mill which is the main reason why it is in such a good condition. The workcamp volunteers will carry out renovation work on the windmill, i.e painting outside woodwork, whitewashing the mill and the next door mill house, setting up information boards for tourists, assisting in grinding corn into flour (if weather conditions allow it).
The volunteers will also be involved in activities with local children and youth, i.e. sports, visits in kindergartens, working on the mill with local children and meeting Danish families in their homes.

MS/04  Noerre Djurs, Jutland (Jylland)

To renovate an amphi theater at the local youth club. This means digging and setting up wooden walls, paving of flagstones, renovation of seats and setting up an outdoor fireplace. The second work project is to set up a nature playground at a local kindergarten.
Local young people and refugees living in the municipality will participate in the work.
 

MS/05  Lejre, Zealand (Sjaelland)

As a volunteer on the workcamp you will be involved in various working tasks at Ravnsbjerg market fair. The tasks are: Construction of a smithy as it might have looked a 1000 years ago. Construction of an oven for smoking fish, meat and cheese. Setting up small willow hedgerows. Construction of a coach house. Alltogether you will take part in the daily life at Ravnsbjerg, living like the ordinary viking. You might also get the chance, as a viking, to speak to tourists and other visitors.
 

MS/06  Vingsted, Jutland (Jylland)

The workcamp will be working in the Iron Age village. Work tasks will be digging and construction of an Iron Age well made of stone, renovation of existing fence and setting up new fence around some of the Iron Age houses, cutting out oak timber to be used for a new Iron Age house.
 

MS/07  Naesby Iron Age Village, Funen (Fyn)

MS/08  Frederikssund, Zealand (Sjaelland)

Construction of ovens in viking age style. Construction of modern clay ovens for baking and cooking. Construction of chairs, tables, beds, kitchenware etc. for one of the houses in the Viking settlement, the socalled ”Longhouse”. The work will be carried out primarily with reconstructions of tools and methods from the Viking age. A group of local youth will participate in the work.
 

MS/09  Aarhus, Jutland (Jylland)

Inside the Youth Club is a 40 meter long corridor which needs to be improved on the creative side. The work involves painting of walls, setting up noteboards, caf? tables and chairs, decoration etc. Sydbyen Youth Club also wants to improve the facilities of a room to be used as an internet caf?, and furthermore plans other activities for the workcamp.
 

MS/10  Gjellerup, Jutland (Jylland)

This year the workcamp will also be participating in activities for and with local children as well as renovation of a playground and other concrete work tasks. The main purpose of the workcamp, however, is to work together with a local group of young people between 14-18 years of age. The local group of youth will act as ”hosts” for the workcamp volunteers and participate in setting up the activities for children and the practical work. The local group of youth will be able to train their english and gain a greater perspective of the world outside their local neighbourhood.
Some days the workcamp volunteers will be working in the evenings or late afternoons, especially with social events and activities. E.g. last years workcamp started a nice tradition of participating in the Gjellerup Cup, a local football tournament taking place in evenings.

Decoration of walls in Odense Youth House. Volunteers are most welcome to contribute with ideas, layouts, sketches etc. for the decorations. A group of local young people will particpate in the work as well as carry out other activities with the international workcamp group.

To develop an existing playground for children into a natural playground, in particular using natural materials. The work will be carried out in co-operation with students from the local production school. The school will prepare the layout of the playground.
 

MS/15  Harlev, Jutland (Jylland)

The idea of the project is to make use of the international potential in the workcamp. I.e. volunteers will be asked for ideas for the work inspired by their own cultural background. Setting up small cottages and caves, outdoor cooking in different national styles, setting up a small site with natural musical instruments, excursions with families of the children from the Youth Centre.
Volunteers with artistic and creative skills and experiences will benefit a lot from this workcamp. This is an excellent chance to turn your own ideas and inspiration into concrete action.

There will three major work tasks:
- To set up a sculpture inspired by the volunteers own contribution.
- To set up a small house in the activity park
- To set up an obstacle at the activity park
The work will also involve the children living at the farm and the workcamp volunteers will take part in the daily life at the farm, i.e. taking care of the domestic animals.
 

MS/18  Hoejstrup, Funen (Fyn)

The workcamp volunteers will set up a pavillion on the activity ground. A group of volunteers from Moldova will participate in the workcamp. Hoejstrup Community is setting up some projects in Moldova and would like to invite moldovians to Denmark. Alltogether 13 volunteers will participate in the workcamp.
 

MS/19  Allinge, Island of Bornholm

The volunteers are going to take care of children at the age of 8-13, Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The volunteers will be facilitators of activities for the children. The camp is situated in a public school and every day the children will arrive here. The volunteers will do excursions, theatre, games, barbecue etc. for and with the children.
The workcamp starts on Friday the 5th of July. The first weekend the workcamp group will spend on getting to know eachother and planning the activities for the children for the following week.
It is compulsary for volunteers to be motivated for working with children and to be able to participate in and contribute to setting up activities for the children on their own initiative. The camp leaders will act as co-ordinators but not as work leaders. We ask volunteers applying for this workcamp to write a short letter of motivation and send along with their application.
 

MS/30   Ilulissat, Greenland

Location:  in the town of Ilulissat in the Disko Bay on the West Coast of Greenland
Participation fee:  DKK 10.800,-
 

The project is run in co-operation with the local museum. The work will consist of restoration of escimoic winterhouse ruins, establishing walking paths, building a roof and fencing at a small building at the museum, renovation of an old ruin near the museum.
 

MS/31   Nuuk, Greenland

Dates:  28.06.-31.07. 2002 (day of arrival in Copenhagen: 28.06.)

Location:  Island of Uummannaq, inside the Fiord of Godthaab, 3 hours boat trip from Nuuk
Participation fee:  DKK 10.950,-

The work will be restoration of a church and a small building at a former Moravian (Hernnhut) Mission station on the Island of Uummannaq 3 hours boat trip away from Nuuk. The Island is quite isolated but boat trips will be organised to Nuuk and the nearby settlement Kapsillit. During the past two years a workcamp has taken down the church and the small building. This year both houses are going to be built up and restored as widely as possible in their original constructions.
Young unemployed Greenlanders will take part in the work. The meeting with the young Greenlanders, living and working together on the Island of Ummannaq is an important part of the workcamp.
 

MS/32   Aasiaat, Greenland – medium term project

Location:  Abandoned settlement of Manermiut, 25 kilometres south-west of the town of Aasiaat in the Disko Bay on the West Coast of Greenland
Participation fee:  DKK 12.000,-

Will mainly be renovation of the abandoned houses in Manermiut. The houses to be restored are used by the different schools in Aasiaat for summer camps and excursions and by Aasiaat Tourist Service for kayak and dogsled tourists. By renovating this place, the camp participants help both the tourism in Aasiaat, help with securing a beautiful resort for the schoolchildren and for the local people in general, who often drop by the beautifully situated Manermiut for a picnic in the summertime.
